Category 2: $ 21143 (large)

Situation
The V.N. Naik School for the deaf is both residential and a day school situated in Newlands Durban and borders on the formally black township of KwaMashu. It is in the lower class area. Due to lack of subsidisation of State and Non-State Institutions, they rely heavily on donors, volunteers and service organisations such as Rotary.

100 children will benefit from the need for hearing aids. These children are diagnosed as between severely and profoundly deaf. These are not ordinary hearing aids but are imported from Denmark at a cost of approximately $ 250 each.

Resources required

100 Phona model hearing aids 21000 $
100 Ear moulds 95 $
100 Batteries 48 $
Total cost of requirements 21143 $
